As a state, Colorado is a hotbed of online educational activity. A 2012 National Center for Educational Statistics report found that the state had just under 20% of students enrolled in Title IV schools were enrolled in fully-online degree programs. This puts Colorado at among the top in the nation for offering college programs through online systems. Although such locations as Denver are very urban, the majority of the state is very rural and mountainous. The availability of online degree programs offers in-state students the chance to take courses at some of the best colleges in the state, despite the challenges that come with distance and harsh weather.

The top-ranked programs in the state can be found at some of the best schools in the state. In order, the best-ranked programs exist at the University of Northern Colorado, Colorado Mesa University, Regis University, University of Denver, Nazarene Bible College and Colorado State University-Global Campus. Regis University is ranked at #28 among regional universities (West) and the University of Denver is ranked at #86 among national Universities.

Many of the colleges and universities in the state that offer online degrees offer very unique programs. The University of Northern Colorado has 13 educational categories for students to choose from. Brewing is on their main menu, with an undergraduate certificate available in Brewing Laboratory Science. The university also offers a Bachelor’s and Post-Baccalaureate degree in Dietetics and a Gerontology Graduate Certificate. The University of Denver offers a smaller number of degree programs, to include some fully-online and hybrid online degree programs. Prospective students can find Bachelor’s degree programs in Communication, English Writing, Sociology and Psychology, all fully online. A large number of Master’s degree programs are available as well, including several in Education, Nursing and Business.

One of the more interesting colleges in the state offering degrees is Regis University. Regis University offers a very wide variety of degree programs across three specific educational areas: Computer and Information Sciences, Professional Studies and Health Professions.
